Review example 03

Making the route to direct booking clearer

Strong coastal imagery created an appealing first impression, but the reasons to book directly needed greater emphasis.

BACKGROUND

The business and its homepage

A seafront hotel had a visually confident homepage with strong photography, video and a clear coastal identity. The setting was immediately appealing, but the reasons to book directly and some of the strongest reassurance were not presented as clearly as the imagery.

WHAT THE REVIEW FOUND

The fresh-eyes view

The homepage created a strong sense of place, but ratings and other trust signals appeared lower down. Several room and offer descriptions sounded similar, while competing calls to action made the most useful next step less obvious.

Recommendations

Four changes worth
considering.

These suggestions focus on clarity and the customer journey rather than technical changes behind the website.

  1. 01

Add a concise value statement beside the main booking action.

  2. 02

Move a useful rating or review summary closer to the top of the homepage.

  3. 03

Give each room type or offer one distinct benefit instead of repeating similar descriptions.

  4. 04

Use “Book direct” as the primary action and “View rooms” as the secondary option.

01
THE FIRST CHANGE WE’D MAKE

Strengthen the opening booking area with one clear reason to choose the hotel, nearby reassurance and a consistent direct-booking action.

Strong imagery and useful proof were already present, but visitors had to work too hard to find some of it. A clearer opening message and less repetition would make the page more persuasive.
